Eligibility

  • Posses a degree in law of a university established or incorporated by or under a central Act or a State Act or an institution recognized by the U.G.C. or any other equivalent qualification.
  • has for at least seven years been an advocate as on 01/01/2020. In other words, the applicant must be practicing as on 01.01.2020 as an Advocate and must have so practiced for a period of not less than seven year as on such date. 
  • has good character and is of sound mind and body and free from any bodily and mental disability which renders him unfit for such appointment.  

DISTRICT JUDGE (ENTRY LEVEL) EXAMINATION SCHEME - 2020
The Competitive Examination of 2 papers of 3 hours each for Recruitment of District Judge (Entry Level) by Direct Recruitment from Bar shall consist of :-

Written Examination:

I-   Paper-I Law (Maximum marks 100) 

(A) 
  • The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 
  • The Indian Evidence Act, 1872 
  • The Limitation Act, 1963 
  • The Chhattisgarh Rent Control Act,2011   (Maximum marks – 25) 
(B) 
  • The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 
  • The Indian Penal Code, 1860 The Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 
  • The Chhattisgarh Excise Act, 1915 
  • The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 
  • The Narcotic Drugs And Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (Maximum marks – 25)
(C) 
  • The Transfer of Property Act, 1882 
  • The Indian Contract Act, 1872 
  • The Specific Relief Act, 1963 
  • The Indian Forest Act, 1927 
  • The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 
  • The Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (Maximum marks – 25)

  • Principles of Pleading

II- Paper-II Law (Maximum marks 100) 
  • (A) Framing of Issues and writing of Judgment in Civil Cases. (Maximum marks 40) 
  • (B) Framing of charges and writing of Judgment in Criminal Cases. (Maximum marks 40) 
(C) Translation- (Maximum marks 20) 
  •  (a) English to Hindi 10 marks 
  •  (b) Hindi to English 10 marks 

 III-Viva Voce 20 marks

How to apply
The application duly filled in and signed along with Identity-Sheet & four identical and recent passport size self attested photographs with name and address of the applicant on the back of the photographs affixing one photograph on application form, one photograph on Identity-Sheet and two photographs to be stapled at the space provided in the application form and Two self addressed envelope (11” x 5”) stamped with postal stamps of Rs. 25/- each addressed to the Registrar General, High Court of Chhattisgarh, at Bodri, Bilaspur (C.G.) Pin - 495220, must reach the Registry of this High Court on or before 27/01/2020 till 5:00 P.M. The words “Application for District Judge (Entry Level) Examination 2020 by direct recruitment and the Advt. No.01/ S & A Cell/2020” must be written on the top of the envelope (14’’x10”).
